Acute pancreatitis due to helminthiasis

Abstract


Acute pancreatitis is an important condition in acute medicine. This condition results in severe abdominal pain. There are several possible causes of acute pancreatitis. Helminthiasis is a possible cause of acute pancreatitis. In this short article, the authors briefly review and summarize on acute pancreatitis due to intestinal helminthiasis. Each kind of helminthiasis (nematode, trematode or cestode infestation) can induce acute pancreatitis.

Core tip:Helminthiasis might be a cause of acute pancreatitis. Either nematode, trematode or cestode infestation can induce acute pancreatitis.
